The tribunal upheld the February 25th election of Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Nigeria. Presidential election tribunal nullified the claims by the opposition parties that the elections was not free and fair. Opposition parties and their supporters are rejecting the outcome of Independent National Electoral Commission declaration on the basis that the conduct of the election was not credible (True and fair) and it will not be accepted.
The Concept of true and fair;
The laws required that INEC should conduct and declare the affairs of election in truthful manner, in that there are no falsehoods in all of their processes during and after election affairs in the declaration of electoral results in its accurate and appropriate form or in the conditions its wishes to portray.
When INEC and its officials are satisfied with all the evidence, that is, the polling units results collated throughout the Country, and they are well verified, they state that the election results presented by them gives the true and fair position of the whole electoral processes.
The declaration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu by INEC gives the official of INEC the believes that the electoral evidence collated by them in line with the rule of law are sufficient and appropriate to provide the basis for declaring PBAT as the duly elected president of the federal republic of Nigeria.
The commission believes that the declaration of results can void the commission’s stand or misplacement of relevant data reasonable enough to distort their results declaration and impact their independent.
Conclusively, fair presentation and declaration of results required the faithful presentation of;
- Enlistment of all the parties registered in the ballot papers available at all polling units of the country, supervised by the officials.
- Collation of results at all collation centers of e every local government of the country.
- Declaration of results by the returning officers of the commission.
- General declaration at the central collation center of the country.
Since these are all done by the commission to satisfy the requirements of the law of the country and make our electoral system enviable.
I so much believe that by satisfying all the conditions of true and fair view, President Bola Tinubu should be acknowledged as the duly elected president of Nigeria even before the apex court affirmation.
