“You must begin to see yourselves as potential leaders of today and tomorrow,” PCU VC tells matriculants.

The Vice-Chancellor of Precious Cornerstone University, Ibadan,  Professor Timothy  O. Adejumo has told  matriculants of the University to begin to see themselves as  leaders of today and tomorrow. 

He gave the charge in an address read at the Matriculation Ceremony held for the 121 students admitted  into the University for the 2023/2024 academic session.

The Vice-Chancellor warned that the University has zero tolerance for every act of indiscipline,  misconduct, and all forms of examination malpractices.

He advised the students to determine to be the best version of themselves by the time their programmes are completed. 

“You must not do anything that will disturb the peace of the institution,  resist every evil peer group influence that may truncate or cut short your journey in this institution,  shun all social vices, and embrace peace and harmony” he charged.

Professor Adejumo gave the assurance that the University was committed and prepared to take the students through the path of life, to make them fulfil their dreams and aspirations, and to become very successful and great.

He said the University would continue to develop and expand its infrastructure to meet the challenges of the 21st century. 

The Vice-Chancellor solicited the support of students, parents, and guardians to join hands with the management in making PCU a unique institution of choice.

He appreciated the support, contributions, and commitment of the Chancellor of the University,  Bishop Francis Wale Oke, his wife, Rev.  (Dr.) Victoria Tokunbo Oke, members of the Governing Council,  the Management team, staff and  students of the institution, as well as members of the Parents Forum.

The Registrar of the University,  Mrs Morenike F. Afolabi administered the Matriculation Declaration/Pledge of Obedience on the students admitted into the Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences and Faculty of Social and Management Sciences. 

A consultant Psychiatrist at the University College Hospital, Ibadan,  Dr Bibilola Oladeji, delivered the Matriculation Lecture entitled “Escape from the Prison called Drugs”

Dr. Oladeji warned the students against drug abuse. She warned that it was better for them not to enter into the trap of drug abuse as it is  not easy to escape from the prison of addiction.
