The wife of a former Governor of Oyo State, Her Excellency, Dr Florence Ajimobi, fspsp, has stated that micro, small, and medium enterprises, SMEs, are the bedrock of the Nigerian economy.
According to her, such enterprises provide support and enhance sustainable visible development in Nigeria.
Dr Ajimobi spoke as the Special Guest of Honour at the closing of the 2-day Small and Medium Enterprises Fair 2023 organised by the University of Ibadan.

She commended the organisers of the Fair, which she noted would bring the opportunities that abound in town to facilitate the building of the capabilities that exist among the students on campus.
She encouraged business owners to structure and conduct their transactions in more efficient ways that will leave open the various doors of opportunity to change the fortunes of their trades favourably.
The former First Lady thanked the University of Ibadan for 75 years of grand contributions to the nation in encouraging collaboration, innovation, and growth among the SMEs.

She said she had always seen the University of Ibadan as one of the major platforms for the economic and human development of the nation. She said that it was, therefore, important that every hand should be on deck to help surmount every challenge and difficulties that may arise.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research Innovation and Strategic Partnerships, Professor Oluyemisi A. Bamgbose, SAN expressed delight at the successful conclusion of the Fair.

She appreciated all participants.
Prizes, awards, and certificates were given to the sponsors of the Fair, the exhibitors, the student entrepreneurs, and members of the Planning Committee, which was led by the Acting Head of Department of Peace, Security and Humanitarian Studies, Dr Ruth O. Adio-Moses.
A total of 70 entrepreneurs participated in the Fair, which was held inside the University of Ibadan International Conference Centre.
