The Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Nigeria, His Excellency, Zdenek Krejci, has called for collaboration between the University of Ibadan and the Embassy on behalf of the Czech Republic.
He made the call during a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kayode O. Adebowale, mni, FAS, in his office.
Ambassador Krejci said relationships had already been established by his Embassy with the University of Abuja and the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs.
He said the relationships are to interface with the chosen institutions towards the sustainable development of the two countries.
The Ambassador noted that his country appreciates the growth of Africa and wishes to key into it.
Professor Adebowale assured the ambassador that he had not made a wrong choice in wanting to relate with UI.
He described UI, the first university in Nigeria as a comprehensive university that teaches as well as conducts research in the humanities, arts, the social sciences, technology, medicine, and the sciences.
Professor Adebowale said UI has over 400 Memoranda of Understanding with leading universities and organisations spread all over the world.
He stated that the University of Ibadan produces over 400 PhD. and 3000 Master’s degrees every year, thus contributing immensely to the manpower development of the country.
The Ambassador was accompanied by the Deputy Head of Mission, Ms Hana Tronsilova, who said a symposium would be jointly organised early in 2024.
