The Ovation was very loud and the mood was upbeat as Deacon Kayode Odedokun, the State Director of Oyo state Directorate of the National Orientation Agency staged a final walk out of the office after the meritorious service of 35 years in the Agency.

 

The solemn ceremony which was held at the Agency’s Hall amidst top managements of the Agency and staffers with the presence of former Director of the agency, Mr moshood Olaleye, family members of the celebrator and other invited guests.

 

The atmosphere was rent with prayers and praise songs for Mr Odedokun. Some members of the state Directorate used the occasion to pour encomiums on the outgoing Director for his bonhomie attitude, down to heart honesty and ability to always work extra hours in the office to ensure that everything were spick and span.

 

In his own remark, the former Director of the Agency, Mr Moshood olaleye thanked God for the outgoing Director for his amiable character and easy going nature. Mr olaleye added that one of the rare qualities of Mr Odedokun is his passion for the job. He eulogised Mr Odedokun for his drive to create something out of nothing. He said, ” Mr Odedokun to proof his commitments and passion at times , go extra miles to spend his personal money to ensure smooth running of the Agency. His name will be etched in gold”. He concluded.

 

Mr Olaleye also praised the members of staff for always thinking outside the box inspite of the country’s parlous economy and still taking the Agency to a greater height.

Deacon Kayode Odedokun attended St Patrick grammar school Ibadan , between 1975 and 1980 and proceeded to the famous Olivet Baptist high school Oyo for his Higher school certificate. He had a stint with the ministry of works and transport Secretariat, Ibadan before his admission to the University of Ibadan in 1984 where he graduated with a bachelor of Education degree in 1987.

 

Moving up the Agency ‘s ladder, Mr Odedokun was appointed into the service of the defunct MAMSER on 4th October 1988 as an assistant social mobilisation officer and by dint of hardwork and devotion to duty ,he served in many local governments of the state before he reached the zenith of his Carrier as the state Director of the National Orientation Agency in April 2022. The Afijio born Deacon served for one year and six months. He is Happily married and the union is blessed with loving children.

 

Mr Odedokun handed over the baton of leadership of the Agency to the next person in position and the former Deputy Director programme, Dr Olukemi Afolayan who is also welcome on board with pomp and peagantry by the entire staff who felt elated that the new Ag. Director emerged from one of them who has very robust working relationship with them and is reputed to be humble and leading from the back.
