Staff and students of the Department of Music have showcased their musical prowess to entertain members of the University community.

As part of the activities for the 2023 Convocation ceremonies, a ‘Night of Music’ was put up by the Department.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kayode O. Adebowale, mni, FAS, said the University appreciates talent and would always do its best to encourage such.

He said this was why the programme was approved by management to showcase the capabilities of the Department of Music.
Professor Adebowale said he was at Kabarak University’s School of Music and Media in Kenya recently and was very much impressed with the output of the school such that he has arranged to have more understanding with the School in order to further strengthen the UI Department of Music.

The Night of Music was attended by principal officers of the University, staff and students, as well as music lovers.
The performances included well rehearsed traditional songs performed by the UI Choir and the UI Orchestra.

There was a solo violin performance, dance, afro mash up as well as a scintillating performance by the band. It was a most interactive and interesting night enjoyed by all.
