The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration of the University of Ibadan, Professor Ezekiel Olusola Ayoola, has stated that the University is always excited by international collaborations that enhance its research capabilities and promote more relevance among world universities.
He spoke on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kayode O. Adebowale, mni, FAS, while receiving a representative of the European Union who was on a courtesy visit to the office of the Vice-Chancellor.
Professor Ayoola, therefore, acknowledged the many organizations and institutions that are partnering with UI in its internationalization efforts.
The representative of the European Union, Ms. Isabel Bueio from IBF International Consulting was in UI on a post project evaluation of the Intra- Africa Academic Mobility Scheme domiciled in the Centre for Petroleum, Energy Economics and Law (CPEEL).
She appreciated the efforts of UI in ensuring the successful completion of the scheme and said the UI experience would be evaluated alongside the experiences from all the 28 countries that participated in the scheme.
The Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme involved a consortium of five African universities, including UI, and it was coordinated by the University of Tlemcen in Algeria. The scheme began in UI in 2018 with the full support of the UI Office of International programs.
A total of 34 participants benefitted from the scheme. 16 participants came from outside Nigeria, while 18 Nigerians visited the other participating institutions.
The post evaluation visit is to conduct an overall independent assessment of the scheme’s performance, paying particular attention to its different levels of results measured against its expected objectives and the reasons underpinning such results; and to draw key lessons, conclusions, and recommendations that will improve current and future interventions.
