As the 2019 general election draw nearer, the political atmosphere of Oyo State keep becoming tenses as the Federal House Of Representatives candidate of All Progressive Congress (APC), who is also the current occupier of the constituency seat of Ibadan South West and North West Federal constituency, Hon. Saheed Akinade Fijabi (known as 3-Direct) were on Saturday 5th January 2019 alleged of displaying a political intolerance, following his involvement as his entourage descends on major streets of Odo – Ona Apata Area of Ibadan to embark on the removal of campaign posters credited to Hon. Rotimi Ajanaku, which serves as Political awareness and his identity in the area.
It should be known and recall that, the political rivalry between the two candidate; Hon. Saheed Fijabi and Ajanaku stated as far back as 2015 when Hon. Saheed Fijabi won the constituency ticket over Rotimi Ajanaku, which the later saw it as a cheat on his side.
The political atmosphere of the constituency during the party primaries potent a keen and tough electioneering process in the constituency, as during the last APC federal Representatives primaries, Rotimi Ajanaku was said to claimed that, Hon. Saheed Fijabi was illegally declared winner in a controversial circumstance by Mr. Seriki, the electoral Committee Chairman of the constituency primary election and as a result of denial, he chose to fight the injustice through petition with evidences as backed up.
Following the non recognition and treatment of the petition and evidences provided for the national working committee of the party, Hon. Rotimi Ajanaku officially defected to Zenith Labour Party on December 16, 2019.
According to an eye witness on the posters removal, Westerndailynews gathered that, Hon Fijabi stormed Odo Ona and environs as soon as he got the information that, Hon. Rotimi ” Posters Pasting agents/” had placed posters on his own already pasted.
