Lagos, Nigeria – A man identified as Tunde Ajayi has been gruesomely stoned to death by a group of hoodlums in Ojuelegba, Lagos. Witnesses report that the assailants, who claimed to be enforcing Nigerian law, stoned Ajayi to death over allegations of engaging in same-sex relationships and practices.

Eyewitnesses described a chaotic scene as the attackers accused the victim of violating the country’s laws against same-sex activities. Despite pleas from some people present, the mob persisted in their assault until Ajayi succumbed to his injuries.

There’s no official statement yet on the incident, but human rights activists have condemned the killing, describing it as a gross violation of due process and human dignity.

Nigeria’s legal system criminalizes same-sex relationships under the Same-Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act of 2014. However, experts emphasize that enforcement must be carried out through judicial proceedings, not mob action.

Efforts to reach some security agencies for comments were unsuccessful at the time of this report.

This tragic incident has reignited debates on the rights of individuals and the dangers of mob justice in Nigeria.
